Ayrshire Police are appealing for information after a cyclist was seriously injured in Saltcoat

Officers in Ayrshire are appealing for information after a cyclist was seriously injured in Saltcoats.


The incident happened around 1.20pm on Thursday, 29 April, 2021, when a 62-year-old man was cycling along Braes Road and a vehicle performed a manoeuvre which caused the cyclist to brake suddenly and resulted in him sustaining serious but not life-threatening injuries. The vehicle did not stop at the scene.


The cyclist was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital.


The vehicle involved is described as a small dark or black hatchback type car. The driver is described as a white male, of medium build, between 25 and 35 years old and was last seen wearing a light or white coloured top and shorts, dark jacket and dark skip cap.


Sergeant Kevin Blackley, of Irvine Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.


“We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of the vehicle involved and we would urge anyone with further information about the driver or the car involved to get in touch.


“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage which may assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 1464 of 29 April.”
