Woman in critical condition after accident on the A77


Emergency Services and the Ambulance Services were called to a four vehicle road collision on the A77 between Sandyford and the Monkton roundabout.


Around 9:30pm on Wednesday, police and emergency services responded to reports of a four vehicle road traffic collision on the A77 Ayr Bypass, northbound, close to the Dutchhouse roundabout.

A 57 year-old woman sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident and was taken to Ayr Hospital. Medical staff describe her injuries as critical. No one else was injured in the collision.

Sergeant Iain Pittams from the Divisional Road Policing Unit, based at Irvine, said today:

“This was a serious road crash which has resulted in one woman sustaining serious injuries.

“The A77 was closed for a period whilst specialist officers conducted enquiries following the initial emergency response. Our enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

“If anyone has witnessed the incident and is still to come forward, I ask that they contact road policing officers at Irvine with any information they have.”
