The fundraising campaign set up by a Stagecoach colleagues and friends, speaking to one of John's colleagues, Craig Gemmell told the Ayrshire Daily News:
"This fundraising page was set up on behalf of John's colleagues at Stagecoach and his friends, we are all completely in shock at what has happened and wanted to find a way to help and support his family.
"I contacted another driver who is a close friend of John and we decided to set up the page so that anyone who knew john and anyone in the Girvan and Ayrshire community who would like to contribute would be able to." It is understood John confronted someone who vandalised his car outside his home in Park Road, Girvan.
The father of four was found by Police in his garden just after 11am on Saturday, officers used CPR but could not resuscitate him.
