Works at the Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock will shortly commence and a number of access changes will be put in place to accommodate these works.

Graphic hoardings will be installed around the perimeter to secure the site and as cleaning and repair works get underway, the underpass from London Road to the Burns Mall Shopping Centre will be closed. This closure will take effect from Monday 4 August. East Ayrshire Council is considering proposals to form new steps and an accessible ramp to facilitate access to the rear entrance of the Burns Mall.

To ensure the safety of the public and contractors, the westbound side of the road and footway in front of the Palace will be closed for the duration of the project and temporary traffic lights will be installed to manage local traffic flow.

Sturrock Street East Car Park, which is immediately adjacent to the construction site, will be temporarily closed to accommodate site offices and welfare facilities and to provide controlled access to the site. This closure will also take effect from 4 August. This car park will be closed for the duration of the works, but motorists are being encouraged to make best use of Titchfield Street Car Park, which is a short distance away and subject to the same tariff as Sturrock Street East.

East Ayrshire Council and East Ayrshire Leisure Trust will work closely with the contractor McLaughlin & Harvey to ensure that disruption is minimised while these works take place.
