ARMED MARINES BEACH DISPLAY WILL GO AHEAD AT THE SCOTTISH AIRSHOW AFTER POLICE OBJECTIONS

A ground display on Ayr Beach by the Royal Marines at this weekend's Scottish Airshow is to go ahead after organisers reached an agreement with Police Scotland who had initially complained about the display going ahead.

Police Scotland had initially objected to the Royal Marines being armed during the display at the Low Green in Ayr on Saturday for this year's Scottish Airshow opening Display.

Although the Marines display was a demonstration using non-live ammunition, the Police had taken this seriously.

According to sources - a spokeswoman for South Ayrshire Council said the event had now been "slightly revised" and a few changes have been made.

The event at Ayr and Prestwick is taking place on Saturday at the Low Green, Ayr and Sunday at Prestwick Airport.
