The event, held at the Newton Wallacetown Church Hall, is a showcase of all the clubs and activities that OiR offer to retirees and over 50s across South Ayrshire.

These activities include a photography club, Thai Chi, social dancing, a choir, jewellery making, walking groups and a folk music group - just to name a few. There were also stalls which aimed to help raise awareness of phone / online scams & also neighbourhood watch awareness.

Commenting the SNP MSP said:

“One of my highlights of the year is to attend the OiR Open Day. It is an event that is always buzzing with music, laughter, and positivity.

“There is such a huge range of brilliant clubs and activities on offer from OiR and it was great to hear

“It was also great to catch up with OiR chairman, Barrie Southwood and hear about the fantastic work that OiR are doing in the community.

“I would encourage anyone who is retired and interested in volunteering or picking up a new hobby to visit the OiR website for more details.”
