In one of the best results in their 120 year history, the Ayr society won the 2024 Scottish championship in Dunblane and progressed to British championship on July 6th. There they competed against 37 other winning federations of photographic clubs and societies. The judges were international and the competition fierce.

Extremely pleased to qualify for this expert level competition Ayr travelled to Warwick with a file of 40 images and after 2 rounds of judging they were selected to compete in the final round of 8.
Eddie Telford, of the Ayr Photographic Society explained, “We
had to choose which photographs we would use in each round. From our members 40 images, we were asked to select 20 for the final round of judging.”
Eddie said “We knew our images were good and to be honest we thought an 8th place would be a real achievement. When the results were announced we were incredibly proud of all our members because it was their work which got us an amazing 3rd place. We were absolutely blown away.”
Because of this historic 3rd position Ayr have an automatic place in the 2026 Championship. The club members are out and about now taking the pictures that will form their entry. What a reward for some excellent imagination in seeing great opportunities to capture the best of the world surrounding us all.
The Ayr Photographic Society say they exist to welcome, help and provide a friendly environment for their membership of around 60 to enjoy and improve their skills no matter what level they are at.
The Society will have their annual exhibition at the Maclaurin Gallery in Rozelle Park from 15th August to 5th October. There all 60 members of the society will be able to have their chosen photographs displayed either in print or on screen.
