CONGRATULATIONS to the Ayrshire Hospice events team who won a prestigious national award recently for the “Best Event or Community Fundraising Initiative” at the recent Institute of Fundraising awards in Glasgow.
The teams inaugural Colour Dash event on Sunday 30th August 2015 in Eglinton Park, Kilwinning, was judged to be the best event in Scotland and attracted1152 supporters.
Tracey Corrigan, Assistant Fundraising Manager, said: “We are thrilled to have been nominated and privileged to win this prestigious award. The event was a great family day out, and the support we had from the community and our sponsors was amazing”.
The Colour Dash 2015 event was a huge success, raising over £58,000 and an impressive 91% of participants were new supporters of the hospice. The event was attended by individuals, couples, entire families and groups from workplaces and organisations who wanted to have a fun, active day out while raising money for the hospice.
The event was repeated this summer on 7th August 2016, moving the location to Irvine Beach Park due to planned groundworks at Eglinton Park and was once again a huge success.
The hospice said they are still counting up the money and to look out for the final total later this year.
The Scottish Fundraising Awards are organised annually by the Institute of Fundraising Scotland. The Awards are free to enter, and they honour the work and success of Scotland’s best fundraisers. Chair of the Institute of Fundraising’s Conference Organising Committee Gary Kernahan said:
“I’d like to congratulate each of our winners this year on making it through a very tough selection process, and on their respective work to raise awareness and make a difference to so many vital causes. The annual awards are a perfect opportunity to showcase and recognise the very best of fundraising in Scotland”.
