Ayrshire River trust to investigate pollution in River Girvan!

Milky white pollution is pouring into the River Girvan

The effluent appears in the lower reaches on the opposite bank from the travellers campside. It is just below the Girvan Dykes weir and salmon ladder.

River bailiffs discovered the seepage and brought in the Ayrshire Rivers Trust.

At least three reports have been made to environmental body SEPA to get into the river and investigate.

Rivers Trust manager Stuart Brabbs said: “Someone must be able to trace this to the source and we believe it is from the Grangestone Industrial Estate or the nearby industrial unit.”

A probe into whether a drain leading from the estate was capped properly a number of years ago is to take place.
