BREAKING NEWS: Typhoon Jet Scrambled For Full Emergency at Prestwick Airport


The delivery plane was escorted down on to the tarmac at Prestwick Airport after it lost communication with Air Traffic Control.


The aircraft was a Volaris A320 on delivery to Mexico from Toulouse, it is apparent that no passengers were on board the plane.

Roads have since re-opened after Police closed all surrounding roads.

Police Scotland issued the following statement at 16:29PM: "An aircraft has been diverted to Glasgow Prestwick Airport, Ayrshire around 1440 hours today, Friday 28 October 2016 following reports of a temporary loss of communication. "A full emergency response has been put into action at the airport. The aircraft landed safely at 1557 hours. Emergency services are in attendance to establish the full circumstances."

Update (16:38pm) - Prestwick Airport has now re-opened, the plane is parked up and being searched by authorites.
