It’s a sight we have never seen before. A China Southern Boeing 777 freighter has just offloaded its 110 tonnes of cargo from Guangzhou, Southern China. The thousands of parcels will be delivered to households all over the UK in the next couple of days.

Meanwhile an Air China Boeing 777 lands with another 110 tonnes of presents from Beijing. It arrives direct from China’s capital city where 21 million people live and work.
Another Air China flight has just landed from Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in South West China. It arrived via Stockholm and the Airbus 330 carrying 60 tonnes of
Christmas deliveries.
This evening, we expect a Capital Airlines Airbus 330 to bring a final load of 60 tonnes of Christmas cheer from Chongqing on the Yangtze river full of Christmas gifts and on line purchases.
Today is a real demonstration of why Prestwick won its Air Freight Business of the Year at the Logistics UK Awards in recognition of a year marked by sustained cargo growth, new airline partnerships, and major investment across its operation.

This is peak Christmas delivery season and the setup at Prestwick has been designed to swiftly offload and load these giant freighters and to dispatch individual packages to customers in a matter of hours.
Before the 4th flight arrived the others will have departed and be flying direct to China with loads which include fresh seafood and premium whiskies as well as general cargo.
Hundreds of newly recruited staff in the freight handling warehouse will be working very hard before hopefully enjoying a great Christmas with everyone else. They are much more than Santa’s little helpers; they are the backbone of a new industrial policy which is bringing jobs and incomes to Ayrshire.
We would like to publicly thank them one and all and everyone associated with this booming industry making great use of our brilliant local airport. A use for not only Ayrshire and Scotland but for the whole of the UK.
