Council Still Looking at Refurbishment Option For Ayr High Rise Flats After Asbestos Find

South Ayrshire Council are still looking into the option of refurbishment of the Ayr High Rise Flats After a recent Asbestos Find.

South Ayrshire Council has confirmed to ADN that 450 samples have been taken and are awaiting the findings to determine the feasibility of refurbishment or if the flats will indeed be demolished.


Councillor Martin Dowey, Leader of South Ayrshire Council said to ADN:

“An independent asbestos survey has been undertaken as part of the demolition contract. As a result of the survey, around 450 samples have been taken from the first block of flats, and we are reviewing the findings to determine the feasibility of refurbishment.”
