Staff at Dalmilling Primary School have raised more than £6,500 for local Type 1 diabetes charity Lochlan’s Legacy in memory of their much-loved colleague and friend, Fabian Greenan.

Fabian, who passed away suddenly last year at the age of 48, had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in his 30s. He was a hugely valued member of the school community and was also well known through his involvement in local football, including his role as a coach with Valspar.
Exactly one year on from a previous race night, staff at Dalmilling came together once again to organise a special fundraiser in Fabian’s memory. The evening had both a St Patrick’s Day and football theme, reflecting two things that were close to Fabian’s heart.

The event proved to be a huge success, with colleagues, friends and supporters helping to raise an incredible total of more than £6,500 for Lochlan’s Legacy.
Adding to the atmosphere on the night was Ayr CCE, an Irish music band which Fabian helped to set up. The band also visited Dalmilling Primary on St Patrick’s Day to perform for pupils, making the tribute even more meaningful for the school community.

The money raised will support Lochlan’s Legacy, an Ayrshire-based charity which does vital work supporting young people living with Type 1 diabetes and their families.
The fundraiser was not only a chance to raise money for an important local cause, but also an opportunity for those who knew Fabian to come together, remember him, and celebrate the lasting impact he had on the people around him.
Staff at Dalmilling Primary said Fabian remained very much in their thoughts and that the success of the event was a fitting tribute to a colleague and friend who was loved and missed by many.
