During a programme of structural inspections undertaken during the summer holidays an issue was identified with the ceilings in the Primary School classrooms.

Structural engineers have advised that repair work on the ceilings is required. As a precaution, and to undertake further investigation works to take place, these classrooms should be closed.
Arrangements are being made to decant the primary school.
The Early Education Centre at the school will remain open, as this is unaffected.
We always put the safety and wellbeing of pupils, parents and staff first and, while we look more closely at the scope of work needed to fix the classroom ceilings, Netherthird Primary School will be closed and primary pupils will be decanted.
We sincerely regret any inconvenience our decision may cause, but trust parents will understand that we will not compromise on matters relating to their children’s safety.
We would stress that these are precautionary measures to ensure there is no further disruption to education provision and we will review the arrangement in October 2017
In the meantime, arrangements are being made to transfer furniture and learning resources to Greenmill Primary and Cumnock Academy.
What happens next?
Greenmill Primary School and the Early Learning Centre will be closed on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 August 2017 due to the amount of work involved in the decant,
The school will open to pupils from Monday 21 August 2017, with primary one pupils starting at 9.15am and getting collected at 2.30pm, as originally planned.
Netherthird Primary School will be closed until Tuesday morning 22 August 2017.
Special arrangements are being made for P1 pupils’ first day of school and we are contacting parents to advise of arrangements.
Buses will take pupils in P1-5 to Greenmill Primary School and pupils in P6 and P7 will be taken to Cumnock Academy. The transport is free and school meals will be available as normal.
Parents are asked to bring pupils to Netherthird Community Centre Car Park for 8.30am.
Buses will leave the car park at 8.50am to travel to Cumnock Academy and Greenmill Primary School, with a return in the afternoon back to the car park at around 3.15pm.
Parents are asked to park considerately to allow buses access to and from the car park.
