East Ayrshire Provost's Festive Message 2025

As we approach the festive season, it’s important to take a moment to think about those in our communities who give so much of themselves to care for others.

Among them are our young carers – remarkable children and young people who somehow balance school, friendships, and growing up with the responsibility of looking after a loved one.

I’ve had the privilege of meeting many young carers this year as part of my support for East Ayrshire Young Carers charity, and their kindness, strength and sense of duty is truly inspirational.

This time of year can be particularly challenging for young carers, and indeed carers of all ages, so I’d encourage everyone to show their support to any carer you might know – whether that’s through offering a helping hand, or simply taking the time to listen.

Our young carers deserve to enjoy the magic of the season just as much as any other child, and I wish them and every family across East Ayrshire a peaceful and happy Christmas.
