South Ayrshire Council’s strategic management team has been finalised with the appointment of a new Head of Regulatory Services.
Catriona Caves – currently Legal Manager at Glasgow Life, the Arm’s Length External Organisation that provides sport, leisure and cultural services on behalf of Glasgow City Council – will take up her post later this year.
With a 15 year career in local government as well as significant private sector experience, Catriona brings a wealth of legal and governance knowledge and expertise that will be of real value to the Council. This includes work in areas such as procurement, litigation, major international events, TV and newspapers.
Ready for a challenge and the opportunity to influence service delivery, she is keen to show how regulation can empower services and support innovation and change – rather than being seen as a roadblock.
In her new role, Catriona will be responsible for Democratic and Governance Services; Legal and Licensing Services; Insurance, Risk and Safety Management; Civil Contingencies and Business Continuity; and Trading Standards and Environmental Health. She will also be the Council’s Monitoring Officer.
Council Leader, Councillor Douglas Campbell, welcomed Catriona’s appointment: “Catriona will be a real asset to the Council and I look forward to working with her and her fellow chief officers so we can move forward and deliver the outcomes we want to achieve for our people and places.
“That will mean quality homes; excellent education, employment and training opportunities; effective health and social care; attractive and welcoming towns and villages; engaged and informed communities; responsive and people-focused services; a growing economy; and a bright and positive future.
“That’s just a snapshot of the Council – and the place – we want to be and with our strategic management team all in place, the journey is now well underway.”
As well as appointing the new Head of Regulatory Services, Councillors have also approved a new third tier management structure for the Council’s People and Place directorates. Details are available on the Council website.
