From Prestwick to the USA: David Quinn’s New Scotland Anthem Set for Take-Off

Many people across Ayrshire will remember David Quinn from his days at Elliott’s in Prestwick, where he built up a loyal following through his DJ skills and larger-than-life personality.

Now David is hoping to get Scotland supporters singing with a new football anthem called Scotland Party in the USA.

The track was created with lyricist Simon Corbett, who flew to London to work with David on the song over two days.

David was also the keyboard player with his band, The Future Shape of Sound, before later focusing mainly on DJ work.

After moving to London, David’s life took a dramatic turn when he was diagnosed with cancer within a year of relocating.

He went on to undergo five operations and nine weeks of gruelling chemotherapy, which he says almost claimed his life.

Such was his commitment to performing that he even appeared at a festival with a catheter following surgery.

His talents as both a musician and bagpiper have opened doors around the world, allowing him to perform for and meet many well-known celebrities throughout his career.

David has even played for the cast of Outlander and for Rod Stewart during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine morning television show.

Now preparing to fly to the United States on Wednesday, David is hoping his latest release will strike a chord with Scotland fans.

He said: “Simon Corbett wrote the lyrics and I wrote the music, produced and performed everything on it, including the bagpipes and singing.

He flew down to London and we did it in two days. It’s a really catchy chorus. If it starts getting played by the fans, they’ll love it.”

And when David arrives in America this week, one thing is certain: his bagpipes will be travelling with him.

Known for entertaining crowds wherever he goes, he will no doubt be bringing a touch of Scotland to fans across the Atlantic.

With its upbeat feel and singalong chorus, Scotland Party in the USA hopes to capture the energy, passion and humour that Scotland supporters are famous for wherever they travel.
