Glenfairns glowing ‘Very Good’ Care Inspectorate report

The team and residents at a not-for-profit Sanctuary Care home in Ayr are celebrating the home’s glowing Care Inspectorate (CI) report.

Glenfairn House Care Home in Racecourse Road has received stand-out ‘Very Good’ratings in its recent report following an unannounced inspection, for how well the team supports residents’ wellbeing and the quality of the home environment of the home, which has recently undergone an impressive internal and external refurbishment.
Residents and their loved ones had high praise for the devoted staff, with quotes including "staff spoil me and run after me here" and "they are like family to me".
Comments from inspectors noted the residents benefitted from a “culture that placed strong value on relationships, connection, and maintaining what mattered to them”.
The experiences residents enjoy was another highlight, with inspectors noting how there were “strong community links” with local schools and other groups, social initiatives with other Sanctuary Care homes, as well as strong family involvement.
The quality of the environment in the home, which has undergone extensive refurbishment, was another stand out ‘Very Good’, with inspectors praising the “high quality facilities” and “high quality refurbishment work”.
The report highlighted: “Significant investment by the provider had enhanced comfort and safety, and staff demonstrated the skills needed to make effective use of the improved facilities.
The home has had an incredible makeover over the last two years, with works including a dining room refurbishment, the creation of new en-suites and bedroom refurbishments, a lounge upgrade, original windows replaced and external stonework repaired and restored, full roof renewal and extensive redecoration.
