Gritters take to Ayrshire roads as first band of snow arrives

32 gritters are taking to Ayrshire and SW Scotland main routes as snow and freezing conditions start to take affect.

Storm Caroline hit Scotland early this morning but with the stormy conditions now pushing away a bitter northern wind is now taking affect along with an Arctic blast through the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to drop to around - 4 and - 6c while 3 snow warnings are in force over the next 72 hours.
