Heathfield Primary School recently received a positive inspection report from Education Scotland.

In June 2025, inspectors from Education Scotland visited the school where they talked to parents, carers and children and worked closely with the head teacher and staff.
The inspection praised the school for its positive relationships between staff and pupils and noted that children are proud of their school and engage well with their learning. The head teacher and staff were also commended for their effective collaboration through engagement and application of professional learning. This is having a particularly positive impact on attainment in reading.
The inspection report also highlighted how staff and partners support children to progress and achieve and are ambitious for themselves and the children.
The Support and Wellbeing classes were also commended for the delivery of high-quality learning and teaching using effective structures and routines. It was also noted that staff support children to manage and regulate their own behaviours and know themselves as learners.
Gaenor Hardy, Head Teacher at Heathfield Primary School said: “We strive to provide our young people with an engaging, motivating and inclusive environment, so I’m delighted that the efforts of our staff to achieve our goals have been recognised in this report. I would like to say a huge well done to the fantastic team at Heathfield, their hard work and effort does not go unnoticed.”
Councillor William Grant, South Ayrshire Council’s Policy Lead for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “The head teacher and staff at Heathfield Primary School should be extremely proud of this achievement. The report shows their commitment to providing pupils with a nurturing and engaging learning environment which is fantastic to see.
“I am delighted to see the school achieve the recognition it deserves, and I have no doubt that the head teacher and staff will continue to work with parents and carers, children and the community to maintain these high standards.”
