A killer who carried out a violent attack on a young Troon man has been jailed for life.

James Thomson, 35, was found guilty of murdering 22-year-old Callum Pollock after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, 30 October 2025.
He was back in court on Friday, 5 December, when a judge at the High Court in Edinburgh ordered he serve at least 19 years behind bars before he can be considered for release.
The horror unfolded late on Saturday, 6 July 2024, when officers were called to a property in Ramsay Court, Scott Crescent, around 11.40pm. Callum was discovered seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. Thomson was arrested and charged soon after.
Detective Chief Inspector Keith Runcie said: “Thomson will now face the consequences of his actions for carrying out a violent attack which resulted in the death of a young man.
“Our thoughts remain with Callum’s family, and I hope this sentence brings them some level of comfort as they come to terms with their loss.
“I want to reassure the public that incidents such as this are not tolerated in our communities and our officers will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”
