A man has been taken to hospital following a serious assault in Ayr on Friday evening.

Police Scotland confirmed officers were called around 6.20pm on Friday, 12 December, 2025, to a report of a serious assault on Content Street, Ayr. Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.


The incident prompted a significant police presence in the area, with nearby roads sealed off, the underpass leading to Ayr town centre via the green bridge closed, and vehicles turned away. An ambulance also attended before leaving the scene, and a nearby store was closed during the incident.


Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.


A Police Scotland spokesperson said:


“Around 6.20pm on Friday, 12 December, 2025, we received a report of the serious assault of a man on Content Street, Ayr.


“Emergency services attended and he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.


“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 3021 of 12 December, 2025.”
