Miller Homes is helping make the streets of Beith safer for children this autumn as it celebrates six years of its Home Safeinitiative in the West of Scotland.

In recognition of International Walk to School Month (October), the homebuilder has donated a high-visibility vest to all 308 pupils at Beith Primary School to help keep them visible on their journeys.

Since launching Home Safe in 2019, Miller Homes has worked with local schools across the West of Scotland, donating over 9,000 vests to support child pedestrian safety.

As daylight hours shorten and visibility on roads decrease, it can become more difficult for drivers to see pedestrians - especially young children. The donated vests will enhance visibility giving parents the confidence when kids travel to and from school.

Beith Primary School received a direct donation from Miller Homes for each pupil in the school to keep them safe this October.

Beith Primary School Headteacher Fiona Dunlop said: “We are delighted to be involved in Miller Homes’ annual Home Safe Campaign.

“We are very pleased with the donation of high-visibility vests, which is a welcome addition to our usual winter safety guidance for pupils at this time of year.

“Our children’s safety while walking to and from school is paramount and, as winter is just round the corner with the clocks changing in a few weeks, the timing of the donation is ideal.”

Louise Caldwell, Sales Director for Miller Homes Scotland West, expressed her passion for the campaign: “Home Safe is a brilliant initiative that directly supports local nurseries and primary schools by keeping children bright and visible during the dark winter months. We hope that children can walk, cycle, or scoot to school more safely by wearing our high-vis vests, making them visible to drivers.”

Families can visit Miller Homes’ Sales Centres at the following developments to collect high-vis vests, open Thursday to Monday, 10:30am-5:30pm:

• Constarry Gardens, Croy

• Chapel Gardens, Dumbarton

• Greenacres, Sauchie

• Millerpark, Clydebank

• Stoneyetts Village, Moodiesburn

• Thornly Park, Paisley
