NHS Ayrshire & Arran has been recognised at the Digital Health and Care Awards 2026 after winning the Data Driven Innovation and Collaboration Award for its partnership with the Holly Health app.

The initiative supports people to take greater control of their health by offering digital behaviour change coaching designed to help users manage long term conditions and improve their overall wellbeing.

More than 11,000 residents across Ayrshire and Arran have already used the app, which provides round the clock personalised support to encourage healthier habits and lifestyle changes. The service is available to patients registered with GP practices across the region.

Originally introduced through primary care, the project has now expanded into wider public health services and hospital pathways. It is currently being used to support patients in cardiac rehabilitation programmes, pain management services and weight management initiatives.

Early data from the programme shows that patients using the app are experiencing meaningful improvements in both physical and mental health. Health leaders say the digital tool is helping people make sustainable changes that can improve long term health outcomes. The approach has also contributed to a noticeable reduction in the number of GP appointments required by those using the service.

Alexia Pellowe, Clinical Director for the East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, welcomed the recognition.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award. Our partnership with Holly Health shows how digital tools can empower people to take small, sustainable steps towards better health.

“Not only is it helping patients, particularly those living with multiple long term conditions, but it is also easing pressure on primary care services. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teams, our GP practices and most importantly the thousands of residents who have embraced a new approach to managing their health.”
