Families are flocking to The Courtyard at the Maclaurin Galleries, Rozelle, Alloway this afternoon (Sunday 12 October) to meet Ozzy the baby Barn Owl and some of his feathered friends, as part of a special live art and family event taking place from 12 noon until 3pm.

The adorable owl is modelling for local artist Lorna Elliott Hutcheson, who is painting Ozzy in front of visitors as part of the Save the Children 31st Annual Art Exhibition and Sale 2025. The free event offers a rare chance to see art being created in real time, alongside the opportunity to meet some stunning birds up close.

The appearance of Ozzy and his fellow owls has been made possible thanks to Gillian and Glenn Borland of Hoots Owls and Wedding Wings, who are well-known for their educational and community displays across Ayrshire.

It’s a fun and relaxed afternoon for all ages, with families, artists, and animal lovers enjoying the chance to experience nature, art, and charity coming together.

The exhibition, in aid of Save the Children (Scotland, registered charity SCO39570), continues throughout the day at Rozelle — and organisers say everyone is welcome to come along and join the fun.
