Police Appealing For Information Following a Serious assault on Old Street Kilmarnock

Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault in Old Street, Kilmarnock on Saturday, 28 February, 2026.

The assault occurred around 9.55pm when the 34- year-old man was struck over the head with a glass bottle. He attended University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock for treatment.
The suspect is described as a white male, aged between 16-22 years, around 5ft 8, thin build, red hair and was wearing a grey coloured tracksuit and white baseball cap. He was seen on Low Glencairn Street riding a white coloured bicycle prior to the assault taking place on Old Street.
Detective Constable Lee Duncan said: “This was an unprovoked attack which has left the victim with a significant head wound requiring multiple stitches.
“We know that Low Glencairn Street was particularly busy when the suspect was seen riding his bicycle and I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen him either before, during or after the assault took place.
“Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage could have captured the suspect or assault and if so, I ask that they contact police immediately.”
