Rescue Helicopter called to help 10 people stranded in flooded bus in Ayrshire


TEN passengers had to be air-lifted from a Stagecoach bus that became stranded in floodwater in Dailly, South Ayrshire.

Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, The Coastguard and the Royal Navy helicopter were all called to the scene of the incident which unfolded around 1:45pm on Wednesday, shortly after the River Girvan burst its banks.

Pictures exclusively released to Ayrshire Daily News of inside the bus, show's water coming over the top of the seats.


The bus involved was said to be the number 58, Stagecoach Single Decker.

Police Scotland spokesperson said a Royal Navy Rescue Helicopter, 177 HMS Gannet assisted with the rescue around 5pm.


The passengers who were trapped inside the bus were assisted by medical staff at a local community centre and didn't need to attend hospital.

Ayrshire Daily News reporter Steven Muir attended the incident, he said: "The response from the Emergency Services was swift and the public were grateful for the response. No one had to attend hospital which was also great."
