In just two weeks' time, the Scottish International Airshow will take to the skies with stunning displays, live music, entertainment, fun fair and lots more.
In preparation for the big event on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 September, the Council has just launched a website providing all the information people attending this spectacular event will need — from the latest traffic and travel news to some top tips, it's all at www.ayrshiredailynews.co.uk.
Site opening and closing hours are Friday 2nd Sept (2pm to 10pm) & Saturday 3rd September - 10am to 10pm.
With 120,000 people visiting last year's sensational event and similar numbers expected this year, there could be congestion on the roads network.
The website is worth a look as some roads are closed on the Thursday just before the event with more roads affected on the Friday and the Saturday. You might not be able to park where you normally leave your car because of parking restrictions and there could be speed limits in place.
The following roads will be closed from midnight on Wednesday 31 August until midnight Saturday 3 September:
• The Esplanade (from Blackburn Dr to Pavilion Rd) • Blackburn Drive (from Blackburn Road to The Esplanade)
The following roads will be closed from midnight on Thursday 1 September until midnight on Saturday 3 September:
• Bath Place (from Wellington Square to The Esplanade) • Blackburn Drive (from Blackburn Road to Seafield Road) • Blackburn Road (from Blackburn Drive to Westfield Rd) • Pavilion Road (from Wellington Square to The Esplanade) • The Esplanade (from Pavilion Road to Charlotte Street) • Wellington Square (north and south legs).

In Ayr, stopping and parking restrictions will be in place from midnight on Thursday 1 September to midnight on Saturday 3 September. The restrictions apply on both sides and the full length of the following roads:
• Alloway Park • Belleisle Drive • Blackburn Drive • Fairfield Road • High Road • King Street • Main Rd • Midton Road • Parkhouse Street • Racecourse Road • Racecourse View • Seafield Road • Wellington Square (north and south legs) • Wheatfield Drive • Whitletts Road.
There will also be stopping and parking restrictions on both sides of:
• Alloway Place (from Fort Street to Racecourse Road) • Blackburn Road (from Blackburn Drive to Racecourse Road) • Corsehill Road (from Racecourse View to Racecourse Road) • Doonfoot Road (from Racecourse View to 120m south of Carwinshoch View) • Ewenfield Road (from Monument Road to Maybole Road) • Fort Street (from Wellington Square south to Wellington Square north) • Monument Road (from 33m north of Corsehill Road to 65m south of Corsehill Road and from 33m north of Chapelpark Road to 33m south of Chapelpark Rd) • Queens Terrace (from Bath Place to Cromwell Road).
In Prestwick, there will also be restrictions on either side of Shawfarm Road (along its whole length) and Shaw Road (from Shawfarm Road to the Airport perimeter).
Residents/owners/occupiers will still be allowed access to and from their properties within the affected areas. Parking will also be permitted for residents only in the streets where parking restrictions apply, with the exception of Whitletts Road and the other main routes into Ayr, where no parking will be available whatsoever.
Councillor Bill McIntosh Leader of South Ayrshire Council said: "The excitement is building for what promises to be the biggest and best Scottish International Airshow yet. We know thousands of people will be flocking to the Low Green in Ayr to spectate and we want to ensure that everybody gets to and from the Airshow as smoothly as possible.
"I would urge people to have a look at the website before they travel to get the latest information. For anyone driving, please follow the signs and not your satnav and make sure you have plenty of time for your journey.
"There will be additional carriages for anyone arriving by train but the railways will be busier than normal, so plan ahead. With the event on until 10pm on both the Friday and the Saturday there will be plenty of reasons to delay your return journey and avoid any queues."
As well as highlighting the main routes to the Airshow, there is also the latest travel information from Scotrail, Transport Scotland and Police Scotland.
Doug Maclean, Event Manager at the Scottish International Airshow said: "The Airshow weekend is looking set to be another highlight for Ayrshire. We have worked hard with our colleagues at South Ayrshire Council, Police Scotland and many agencies, and have a plan which will allow this massive event to take place with as little disruption as possible.
"We have extra trains and bigger buses and our official car park and planned exit routes are designed to take cars in and out of Ayr as smoothly as possible. There will be tens of thousands of visitors arriving and enjoying all that Ayr has to offer over 2 days. The message is to plan your travel in advance, expect it to be busy at peak times and have a wonderful weekend."
