Sell out performance sees South Ayrshire Schools Orchestra on fine form

225 children and young people wowed a sold out Ayr Town Hall for the annual South Ayrshire Schools Orchestras concert. An audience of around 550 people were treated to an eclectic performance which ranged from Game of Thrones to The Barber of Seville.

The concert included performances from the Pipe Band, Junior String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and the Sinfonia Orchestra. All three orchestras are part of the progressive pathway provided South Ayrshire Council for pupils who receive instrumental tuition in and out of school.

Highlights from the evening included Highland Cathedral and Scotland the Brave from the Pipe Band; Game of Thrones and Nessun Dorma from the Junior String Orchestra; The Barber of Seville and The Greatest Showman from the Symphony Orchestra; and Overture from Music for the Royal Fireworks and Danse Macabre from the Sinfonia Orchestra.

Councillor William Grant, Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People said the annual concert was a great opportunity for talent to shine, "The annual concert is a fantastic platform to showcase musical talent in our schools. Our young people always play with passion and conviction and they perform to a very high standard.
