A FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Queen's Drive, New Mill Road and Samson Avenue.

Following heavy rainfall throughout the day, river levels in the Irvine have risen rapidly and as a result flooding of the Queens Drive area of Kilmarnock is expected later this evening. This means that flooding of the Scott Ellis playing fields, access to the retail park and properties in and around Queen?s Drive is now possible.

This FLOOD WARNING is now in force until further notice and was sent by phone and sms free of charge to registered customers of our Floodline direct warning service. @ScottishEPA have issued a public flood warning for 2 locations in Kilmarnock - Kilmarnock Water and the River Irvine. We are now responding with our multi agency partners to protect these areas.
We understand that Kilmarnock Water will flood at approx. 1945hrs.
This will affect Fairyhill Rd and West Shaw Street. We are supplying sandbags to properties in these areas. Fire appliances habe been despatched.
@ScottishEPA predict that the River Irvine will burst its banks at approx. 2100hrs.
This will affect Queens Drive, Samson Avenue and New Mill Road. Sandbags are being despatched.
