SimpsInns scores double awards win

Winning streak continues for top Ayrshire family business 

One of Ayrshire’s leading family-owned firms is celebrating a record-breaking year for industry awards after being crowned ‘Boutique Spa Hotel of the Year’ in London and ‘Family Business of the Year’ in Glasgow in the last week alone. 

These two accolades are just the latest additions to a growing list of industry awards achieved by SimpsInns in 2025, including ‘Scotland’s Best Spa & Golf Hotel’ of the year at the Scotland Prestige Awards; and ‘Best Wedding Venue (West)’ at the Confetti Wedding Awards.

SimpsInns is owned and operated by the Irvine-based Simpson family, which is the driving force behind the firm, supporting around 280 local hospitality jobs across its collection of hotels, restaurants, bars, spa, golf, and leisure activities along the Ayrshire coast.

Established in 1996, the SimpsInns collection now includes The Gailes Hotel & Spa in Irvine; The Waterside Hotel at West Kilbride; and The Loans Inn at Troon. 

For the second year in a row, The Gailes Hotel & Spa in Irvine has just been awarded ‘Boutique Spa Hotel of the Year’ at the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) and Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (CIBTAC) Annual Awards, which is one of the UK’s most prestigious beauty industry award ceremonies. 

In the same week, SimpsInns has earned the title of ‘Family Business of the Year’ from Scottish Licensed Trade News. 

Just last month, SimpsInns was also crowned ‘Hospitality and Tourism Business of the Year’ at the annual Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

“New for 2026, we’re getting set to launch our second Si! Spa with a stunning sea view spa at The Waterside Hotel in West Kilbride. The £3million investment at the hotel also includes our newly opened 17-bedroom Super Sea View bedroom extension, with a restaurant refurbishment also planned.

“In the last couple of months, we’ve also added a new wedding bandstand, given the Kyle Suite a glow-up, and with the increased capacity of 40 guest bedrooms. It now makes The Waterside an ideal coastal wedding venue location.”

Si! Spa at The Waterside is entering its final stages of development and will feature an indoor relaxation lounge, a sea-view sauna, steam room, spa restaurant and an expansive outdoor spa terrace complete with experience showers, a fire pit and a large hydro pool overlooking the beach with views towards the Isle of Arran.
