Siobhian Brown, the SNP candidate for Ayr is calling on people across Ayr, Prestwick and Troon to apply for a postal vote ahead of the coming Scottish Parliament election.
The SNP has launched a drive to encourage as many people as possible to register for a postal vote for May’s election to reduce risk from the virus. Polling by the Electoral Commission found that up to 68% of Scotland’s 4 million voters could opt for postal votes this year – nearly four times the normal number. SNP candidate for Ayr, Siobhian Brown said: “With the Holyrood election getting ever closer, it’s vital that as many people as possible in Ayr, Prestwick and Troon apply for a postal vote. “Voting by post becomes even more important given the unprecedented circumstances we all find ourselves in due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and it's the safest way to ensure your voice is heard. “With so much at stake, this will be the most important Scottish Parliamentary election ever, so it's essential that as many people who can vote do so. “I’m urging everyone in Ayr, Prestwick and Troon who is eligible to apply for a postal vote, encourage friends and family to do so. Your vote counts. The deadline to apply for a postal vote for the elections on 6 May 2021 is 5pm on Tuesday 6 April. You must also be registered to vote by midnight on Monday 19 April.
