Station Road in Ayr remains closed Eastbound between Ayr Train Station and the Fire station due to an ongoing police incident.
The road is expected to be closed for some time with local diversions in place however severe delays are expected on roads connecting to Station Road, due to the nature of the closure.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland told Ayrshire Daily News:
"Officers were called to Station Road at 4:15pm following reports of a crash where a woman was hit by a vehicle.
"The woman has been taken to Ayr Hospital to asses her injuries and diversions remain in place at this time."
