Steven Stamper Crowned Champion at 36th Girvan Golf Classic

Golfers from across Scotland gathered at Girvan Golf Course for the 36th annual Girvan Golf Classic, a three-day competition that continues to attract talent from near and far.

This year’s overall champion was Steven Stamper of Turnberry Golf Club, who lifted the Carrick Herald Quaich after achieving an impressive scratch score of 198.


In the Division 1 Handicap (0–13.9) category, Chris McEwan from Port Glasgow Golf Club took home the Ailsa Shield, while Malky Swan of Girvan Golf Club secured the Maggie Milligan Trophy as the Division 2 Handicap (14–28) winner.


George Hunter, South Ayrshire Council’s Assistant Director – Communities, said:

“We’re delighted to see such a strong turnout for the 36th Girvan Golf Classic, with golfers travelling from across the country to take part. The standard of play over the three days was exceptional, and it was great to see competitors of all ages and abilities showcase their talent on the course. Congratulations to the winners on their well-deserved victories, to those who took part in the competition, and thanks to everyone who made this year’s event such a success.”

The Girvan Golf Classic remains one of South Ayrshire’s most popular golfing events, celebrating community spirit and sporting excellence on the stunning Ayrshire coast.
