16:00 on Thursday until 23:59 on Thursday
Heavy showers this afternoon followed by falling temperatures brings a risk of ice on untreated surfaces. Showers will turn readily into sleet or snow , with 1-4 cm accumulating above 150 m, and slushy deposits at lower levels. A chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, and longer journey times.
Chief Forecaster's assessment
Colder air will be drawn across the UK on Thursday with showers increasingly turning to sleet and snow. With the cold air some snow is likely to start accumulating, with some falling to low levels, and surface temperatures will fall below freezing leading to icy stretches forming.
