The Tesco Extra store in Ayr took part in the Ayrshire Hospice’s Fit February campaign by hosting an in store fit fun day.
Every February, the Ayrshire Hospice encourages people to think about their health and fitness and run a Fit February campaign, and Tesco Extra in Ayr decided to get involved to support this.
The store invited customers to take part in fun events such as making their own smoothie’s using pedal power on a smoothie bike and testing their reactions on a Batak reactor game. There was a competitive edge to the reactor game as customers battled it out for top positions on the leader board. The top three each received Tesco gift cards and everyone who took part was encouraged to take a free piece of fruit.
A fundraising raffle also took place and one lucky customer won a healthy hamper which was made up of various healthy treats and pamper products.
Tesco also donated £250 to the Ayrshire Hospice who were in store for the duration of the day available to talk to customers and colleagues about the important work that they do.
Store manager Stephen Dobson said “We are always looking for new ways to serve our customers and the local community. Fun days like today are great because it allows us to interact with our customers and provide them with a fun and novel experience whilst doing their shopping, but it also allows us to support the important work of the charities in our local community. The Ayrshire Hospice is a charity we are always delighted to work with and support.”
Ron Swanson Fundraiser at the hospice said “The hospice would like to thank Tesco for their Fit February support and for hosting a fun in store event. It encouraged customers and supporters to think about the importance of keeping fit and healthy whilst also allowing us the opportunity to talk about the work we do and the importance of fundraising. Only through the invaluable support of the local community, are we able to continue to deliver our vital services to patients and families across Ayrshire.”
