UPDATE: 12:20PM

Ticket Acceptance with stagecoach has now been removed as ScotRail are getting trains back into place. Glasgow Central - Ayr services are returning to normal.

ScotRail have cancelled trains between Ayr & Glasgow after a road vehicle struck a bridge between Barassie and Troon.

ScotRail said on Twitter: "A road vehicle has struck a bridge between #Barassie and #Troon. The bridge is a red structure so it'll need to be examined by @NetworkRailSCOT. Until then we are unable to run trains through these stations."

"We have arranged ticket acceptance on @StagecoachWScot between Ayr and Kilwinning.

"Our staff have examined the bridge and we're now working hard to get services back on schedule."

From what we understand a 'red structure' can mean that the bridge has to be examined by safety engineers to asses any structural damage and to deem the bridge safe for Trains to pass over.
