The spirit of Christmas was alive and well recently when East Ayrshire Churches Homeless Action (EACHa)/ Community Friends and volunteers from the Council joined forces to help those less fortunate.
15 employees from Vibrant Communities worked with the charity group to sort through Christmas presents that had been generously donated by the local churches, the wider community and Council employees. Depute Provost Claire Leitch, Children’s Champion said: “I was so pleased to visit East Ayrshire Churches Homeless Action/ Community Friends and our employees to learn all about the work done to ensure that local children and their families receive presents this Christmas. “Some of our team had volunteered to help through the employee supported volunteering framework that allows employees a day of volunteering each year; while others work closely with EACHa throughout the year and were on hand to offer their support. “It was really wonderful to see how generous people have been and to help sort the hundreds of presents that had been donated. As Depute Provost and Children’s Champion, I have had the privilege of meeting many groups and charities throughout East Ayrshire. “It is so important that we all remember those less fortunate this festive season and donate what we can to help others. Time is one of the greatest donations you can make.” Find out more about East Ayrshire Churches Homeless Action
