WEATHER BOMB: Storm Barra Set to Bring 70MPH Winds & Snow

Storm Barra the latest Storm to be named by the Met-Office is set to under go Rapid Cyclogenesis before hitting the west coast with 70MPH winds & Snow on Tuesday.


Rapid Cyclogenesis is when an area of low pressure rapidly forms leading to powerful winds for a time otherwise known as a Weather Bomb, the Met-Office has issued yellow Warnings for Wind & Snow across parts of Ayrshire however these warnings are likely to change before Storm Barra arrives on Tuesday.


The Met-Office have issued the following Snow warning:

"Heavy snow is expected across northern England and Scotland bringing likely travel disruption, especially over higher routes"


"A band of rain will turn to snow across Northern England and Scotland through Tuesday. 2-5 cm is expected to accumulate quite widely across the area, but locally this could reach 10 cm, particularly in parts of the Southern Uplands and Highlands. Strong southeasterly winds will also lead to snow drifting in places, particularly over the highest routes, adding to poor visibilities."
