Hundreds of golfers from across the UK are expected to take part in this year's South Ayrshire Golf Festival which has now been officially launched. Alongside regular favourites this year sees the Girvan Golf Classic celebrate its 30th anniversary.

This year's programme also includes the showcase Ayr Golf Week which returns for its 68th year, alongside the Troon Golf Weekender. All competitions are based from modern clubhouses which offer competitors a comfortable base ahead of challenging rounds.

Dates for your diary:

Ayr Golf Week: Monday 3 to Sunday 9 June Troon Golf Weekender: Friday 23 to Sunday 25 August Girvan Golf Classic: Friday 27 to Sunday 29 September

Councillor Brian McGinley, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Economy and Culture said, "Golf is part of South Ayrshire's DNA and we're proud to promote our courses across the UK and firmly staking our claim as worthwhile additions to the national sporting calendar.

"By encouraging existing and new golfers to take part in our three main competitions, including the free junior open, we're also helping to safeguard the future of our courses and spreading the word about the quality of our offering.

"I'd encourage regular competitors to take advantage of the early bird discounts and recommend anyone who hasn't taken part before to look us up and sign-up soon."

A 20% discount is available for Ayr Golf week until Friday 19 April 2019; and for the Troon Golf Weekender and Girvan Golf Classic until Friday 31 May.
