The report agreed at a meeting of Full Council outlined the progress being made and that remediation and enabling works are now close to completion.

These works have been key to bringing the derelict site into use.

The Ardrossan Campus is a vital component of the wider Ardrossan Coastal Quarter regeneration programme and elected members were provided with details of the ambitious plans for the site.

As well as the state-of-the-art school campus - which will include secondary and primary schools, public library and swimming pool – the vision for the wider site also includes the provision of new housing and commercial uses. This transformational redevelopment brings significant investment into a former vacant and derelict site within one of North Ayrshire’s most deprived communities.

Officers also outlined the current financial position and set out the additional funding that is required as a result of market conditions in the construction industry to enable delivery of the project in accordance with current project timelines. This was agreed by Councillors at the meeting.
