Ayrshire college set to strike on Wednesday over a national pay dispute

Due to a national dispute over pay, some lecturers are planning to take part in a national strike over the next few weeks, continuing on Wednesday 6 March.

This is a national strike; individual colleges are not able to negotiate locally on pay or terms and conditions of service. Discussions at a national level are ongoing to find a solution to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

As the College will not be able to offer a full service on Wednesday 6 March, all classes - including evening classes - are cancelled on this day, however the College will remain open if students wish to use the facilities.

Students based in Dean Park can use facilities in Kilmarnock Campus. Students based in Irvine or Nethermains can use the facilities in Kilwinning Campus.

Students will receive an authorised absence for this date.

Bursary, EMA, childcare and discretionary funding will be paid as normal.

We will review the situation for further strike days and provide updates on arrangements for these dates as soon as we can.

Updates will be posted on our website, and on the College’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.

We apologise for any inconvenience and concern this will cause. If you have any questions, please contact Student Services on the Ayr, Kilmarnock and Kilwinning campuses.

Classes will resume as normal on Thursday 7 March.
