Body found in Irvine River believed to be that of missing man Alan Galbraith

Police Scotland issued the following statement: Around 1420 hours on Saturday 11 March 2017, police were called to a report of a man's body found in the River Irvine, near Dreghorn Road, Irvine.

Although formal identification has still to take place, it is believed to be 58 year-old Alan Galbraith who has been missing from Kilmarnock since Sunday 5 February 2017. His family has been informed.

A post mortem will take place to establish the exact cause of death, however the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
