The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team was called out this afternoon following reports of a vehicle stranded on the beach near to the entrance to Irvine Harbour.
The team responded immediately and on arrival found the vehicle which appeared to have been there overnight. Enquiries conducted revealed the person responsible for the vehicle had left it overnight having become stuck with arrangements being made for a recovery team to attend to remove the vehicle. The team remained on scene as the vehicle was recovered from the beach back to Stevenson Point, several miles away. We continue to urge the public to ensure they have suitable vehicles, training and permission before taking any vehicle off the main roadway. With the vehicle safely recovered and no persons at risk, the team has then stood down and returned to station to complete the necessary paperwork before booking off duty.
The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to those in need.
