Kilwinning Abbey Church is delighted to welcome visitors every Sunday from 1pm to 3pm throughout the summer season, offering local residents and visitors alike the opportunity to explore one of Ayrshire’s most significant historic buildings.

As part of this year’s visitor programme, the church is hosting its friends from Kilwinning Heritage each Sunday until 28 June. During this period, Kilwinning Heritage is leading tours of the Abbey ruins while refurbishment works are carried out at their heritage centre.
Although the guided tours of the ruins will conclude on 28 June, Kilwinning Abbey Church itself will continue to welcome visitors every Sunday afternoon throughout the summer, right up until Doors Open Weekend in September.

Visitors will have the chance to discover the rich history of the church, browse a range of church merchandise, and enjoy activities suitable for all ages.
The church shop offers a selection of souvenirs including pens, tote bags and greetings cards, while younger visitors – and the young at heart – can take part in a fun quiz as they explore the building.
A spokesperson for Kilwinning Abbey Church said:
“History comes alive in our church. From our links with major historical figures, to family history records dating back to the 1890s, and a world-class collection of stained glass windows, there is always something to see and learn.

Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning to discover something new, we look forward to welcoming you.”
The Sunday openings provide a unique opportunity to experience the heritage, architecture and stories that make Kilwinning Abbey Church such a special part of the town’s history.
