Bakery giant Greggs is ready to send sparks flying by opening a giant new store

The firm will close its busy unit in Ayr’s Newmarket Street and move into a replacement outlet on the High Street that is Treble the current size. The new shop will be located just 10 yards around the corner from its current base on the site of the American Candy Co. Plans reviled also show a large sitting area and a sleek modern design bringing the current unit into the 21st century
It will maintain the company’s three store presence in the town center. And another recently opened unit at Heathfield retail park has proved a huge hit for the out-of-town site.
Staff at the Newmarket Street site say they don’t know who will move in next - but say it is likely to shut in July.
