The countdown to this year's Ayr Golf Week is now officially underway, with hundreds expected to take part in the popular event in summer 2017. Now in its 66th year, the Golf South Ayrshire showcase provides a serious challenge for amateur golfers, with a broad range of events on offer for people of different abilities.
Ayr Golf Week is played between Belleisle, Seafield, and Dalmilling Golf Courses from Sunday 4 - Saturday 10 June. Competitors are given the opportunity to play on parkland courses, while competing for a number of historic trophies and generous prize funds.
There are nine different competitions across the week, including the showcase Tam o' Shanter and Handyside Tournament with £5,000 prize money, alongside long-standing favourites including the Stableford Competition, the Open Mixed Foursomes, Ladies Tri-am, and the Ladies Open Greensomes.
Jill Cronin, South Ayrshire Council's Head of Enterprise, Development and Leisure said the event remained popular, "Last year more than 600 competitors from clubs across the UK took part in Ayr Golf Week, and we're hoping for a repeat of that success this summer.
"An established fixture for generations of golfers, our pristine courses make for a challenging round, while the event base at our new clubhouse at Belleisle provides a stunning backdrop for the closing ceremonies.
"So, if you're a regular contender or looking for something new in 2017, get in touch and get yourself in the running for an unforgettable week of good natured golfing rivalry."
