The Ayr Gaiety Partnership and Michael Courtney Productions are back for their 5th year at the Ayr Gaiety with their Pantomime ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’.
Michelle Heaton who sprang to fame in Liberty X has been unveiled as the star name in the pantomime ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ at the newly reopened Ayr Gaiety Theatre.
The singer will perform as Wicked Queen, under the direction of Michael Courtney, in her first Scottish Panto to date.
Michelle has recently has moved into TV, presenting and appearing on programmes such as The Lorraine Show, Loose Women, Celebrity Big Brother and the first series of the Big Reunion.
The revamp of £2.4 million at the Ayr Gaiety has been carried out with help from South Ayrshire Council and Creative Scotland and many others, including Heritage Lottery Fund, Scottish Government and several trusts.
Heaton, 36, said: “I am told the Gaiety is one of Scotland’s finest theatres and can’t wait to meet the audiences there. I visited the new look venue last week and was really bowled over as the new frontage is perfect and it’s so beautiful inside the theatre.
"I love the fact that they have kept its traditional look. I think Ayr is a great place and the people there have been so friendly and welcoming.
“The whole family are going to be joining me for two weeks over Christmas and the kids are really excited.”
Joining Michelle is Ayrshire girl Lorna Anderson, who played Amber Murdoch for four years in BBC’s River City who has landed the part of Snow White.
Other cast members include one of Scotland’s most aspiring new playwrights, Kenny Boyle, asHenchman Pratt whose one man play ‘Hero Worship’ has just received rave reviews at the Edinburgh fringe.
Liam Webster will return as the dashing Prince and Daniel Whitley makes his Gaiety debut as funny man Muddles as does Alan McLaren as the Prince’s side kick.
