MSP Sharon Dowey: SNP Proposals For Another Independence Referendum Potentially Illegal

Conservative MSP Sharon Dowey has hit out at the SNP plans for a new independence referendum next October calling the vote "Reckless & Potentially Illegal".

Commenting, Scottish Conservative MSP Sharon Dowey said:

“These proposals for another independence referendum are not only reckless but also potentially illegal. “During the last election, the SNP told people a vote for them wasn’t a vote for independence. Now they’re saying those votes mean they can hold a unilateral referendum where they choose the date, the question and the format. It’s playground politics and typical of this independence-obsessed SNP government. “The Scottish Conservatives won’t play along with Sturgeon’s pretend referendum. The First Minister can’t even tell the people of Scotland that her plans are legal, why would anyone trust her? “Meanwhile, drugs deaths are skyrocketing, nationalised ScotRail is a disaster, the SNP have banned the building of new roads and they can’t even complete a couple of ferries. Yet for Nicola Sturgeon, independence is the most important thing, regardless of the cost. It’s pathetic and Scotland deserves better.”
