New Head of Children’s Health, Care and Justice Services appointed for South Ayrshire

South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) are delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Hoey as the new Head of Children's Health, Care and Justice Services for South Ayrshire following an intensive assessment centre and panel interview process.

Gary has worked in Social Work and Education for over 30 years, predominately within South Ayrshire. He will be taking up this role following three years as Chief Social Work Officer for South Ayrshire.
In his role as Chief Social Work Officer, Gary had taken a lead on transformative change with a focus on putting people and communities first. He has led on initiatives and programmes to strengthen governance and quality assurance across Children, Adult, and Justice Services, ensuring compliance with national standards and legislation.
Gary chaired the Alcohol and Drugs Partnership and the Social Work Governance Board, driving policy innovation and workforce development.
Nationally, Gary serves as Vice Chair of Social Work Scotland Children and Families Standing Committee influencing policy and championing The Promise.
South Ayrshire Council's Chief Executive, Stephen Penman said, "Gary has led on several projects designed to meet the spirit and ambition of the South Ayrshire HSCP Strategic Plan, ensuring that children and young people in South Ayrshire start well, live well and age well. Gary has strong roots in the South Ayrshire community, I look forward to seeing him continue to lead the direction of the HSCP."
